About This Game

Adventure Island II, known in Japan as Takahashi Meijin no Bouken Jima II, is the sequel that fixed the original's biggest problem: the constantly draining vitality meter now refills from fruit you find rather than forcing an endless hunt.

The memorable addition is the dinosaur companions. Four rideable dinosaurs - a ground-running one, a fire-breather, a swimming one and a flying one - each open up a section of the stage that is otherwise impassable, and finding the right egg is the core of the level design. There are eight worlds plus a hidden final island, and the game keeps the series' skater-fast momentum and one-hit-death stakes.

  • Four rideable dinosaur companions, each opening different routes
  • Vitality meter that refills from collectible fruit
  • Eight worlds plus a hidden bonus island
  • Hidden eggs containing weapons, hearts and dinosaur eggs

Tips & Strategy

Hunt the dinosaur egg first

Each stage usually has the right dinosaur for its terrain. Finding it before advancing turns a hard stage into a straightforward run.

Keep the vitality meter above half

Fruit refills it, but the drain accelerates. Never enter a boss area below half a bar.

Use the skateboard for score, not survival

It doubles your speed and triples your risk. Board sections are for racking up points, not for clearing a stage you have not memorised.

Check above ledges for hidden eggs

Most hidden eggs sit above the visible ceiling line. Jumping past a ledge rather than onto it is how you find them.
