About This Game

DuckTales is Scrooge McDuck bouncing on his cane across five countries looking for treasure. The pogo jump - hold down and press jump - turns his walking stick into a spring that bounces off enemies and hazards, and the whole game is built around mastering it.

You choose the order of the five stages, and each one hides not just treasure but a secret level exits and a hidden money vault. The Moon stage's low gravity, the Himalayas' ice physics and the Amazon's vine mazes give each area a distinct feel, while the Game Boy port and the famous Moon theme (later arranged in the 2017 DuckTales reboot) gave the game a second life decades later. It is one of the tightest action platformers Capcom ever made.

  • Cane pogo jump as both attack and traversal tool
  • Choose your own stage order across five countries
  • Hidden treasure rooms with huge score payoffs in every stage
  • Composed by Hiroshige Tonomura; the Moon theme became a series staple

Tips & Strategy

Pogo constantly, not occasionally

The pogo bounce works on spikes, lava and enemies, so it doubles as your safest form of movement. If a gap looks impossible, try bouncing rather than jumping.

Grab the Diamond before the boss

Every stage ends with a boss, but every stage also hides a huge treasure. Play each stage twice if you need to - the score bonus is worth the second run.

The Moon has reduced gravity

Your jump arcs are much longer there, which makes precision landings harder. Adjust your timing rather than your approach.

Find the secret exits early

Several stages have an alternate exit that skips the boss entirely. Locating them on a first run is the fastest route to a high score.
