Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Detailed at Tokyo Game Show 2026

Capcom revealed fresh details for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance during its Tokyo Game Show 2026 presentation on 16 September. The headline announcement was the return of Teostra, the Flame King Dragon, with a reworked moveset that includes a new Supernova attack and follow-up options under the right circumstances.

The expansion introduces Boost Actions through a new Boost Bracer, letting hunters build a Boost Gauge during play and spend it on weapon-specific actions to create openings rather than simply adding damage. It also adds Master Rank, with Capcom indicating that existing equipment and decorations may retain their value rather than being made obsolete — a departure from how previous Monster Hunter expansions handled progression.

Character Edit Vouchers are being discontinued, with free unlimited re-customisation planned; ten of each voucher will be gifted during the transition. Several improvements — faster weapon swapping without mounting a Seikret, equipment changes from Item Boxes outside the tent, bulk Hunter Loadouts and numeric hitzone values in the Hunter's Notes — will also apply to the base game for players who do not buy the expansion. Ascendance launches in 2027, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version in development.
